Marco Polo was a Venetian merchant as well as a world traveler. He once traveled to China with his uncle and recorded their experiences in II Milione, a book which introduced Central Asia and China to Europeans. It is said that he had established a friendship with Kublai (the founder of the Yuan Dynasty) and stayed in China for 17 years.
