As its name suggests, Hui people (also called Muslims) live on the street and sell their specialties and snacks. Visitors who have been there must be familiar with Honghong Fried Rice with Pickled Cabbage, Jia San Soup Dumplings and Tongshengxiang Pita Bread Soaked in Lamb Soup.
It’s said that the Moslem street was a busy commercial street in ancient times. There were around 108 grain stores and 10 butcher shops that sold beef and duck meat. People living here are said to be the descendents of Arabian and Persian envoys, businessmen and overseas students who came to Chang’an during Han and Tang Dynasties.
