During the Ming Dynasty, several aristocratic estates and residences of princes were built in this area. Later, a well full of pure water was discovered. Therefore, it gained the name ‘Wangfu (princely residence)’ ‘Jing (well)’. Wangfujing Pedestrian Street extends from East Changan Road in the south to the National Art Museum of China in the north. Today, it is the most famous business street in Beijing.
