Suzhou Railway Station has a long history. It was built in 1906 and put into use in 1908. During the Anti-Japanese War, the railway station was badly damaged. The restoration was finished in 1941. It has been expanded several times since liberation. The current station was rebuilt in 1979 and put into use in 1982. In 2007, it was expanded again. The extension project was finished on July 1, 2010 when the Shanghai-Nanjing High Speed Railway was put into use. Passengers can take bullet trains from Suzhou to Shanghai, Kunshan, Wuxi, Zhenjing and Nanjing. Fast trains to Chengdu, Xian and other cities are also available at the Suzhou Railway Station.
