During the Qin Dynasty (221 - 207 BC), Qujiang Area was called Gai Zhou. There was an imperial palace “Yi Chun Yuan”. During the Han Dynasty, Emperor Wudi named it Qujiang. Two imperial palaces were built here, Yi Chun Hou Yuan and Le You Yuan.
During the Sui Dynasty (581 - 618 AD), it was included as a part of the imperial city. Also, an imperial palace was built here, and was called Fu Rong Yuan (Lotus Palace). Meanwhile, a pool was dug and named Fu Rong Pool.
During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD), the pool was renamed as Qujiang Pool. The imperial palace still retained its name Fu Rong Yuan. Meanwhile, more buildings were built in the palace.
In July of 2007, Xian decided to build a park in Qujiang Area. The whole construction took just one year. The park was open to the public on July 1, 2008. Needless to say, it retains its original name Qujiang Pool Park.
