Huaqing Pool is located at the northern foot of Mt. Lishan. According to historical records, hot springs here were found during the Western Zhou Dynasty(11th century BC-711 BC). King You of the Western Zhou Dynasty was said to build an imperial palace here. The emperors of the Han (202 BC-220 AD) and Sui (581-618 AD)Dynasties also built their palaces here. During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD), another grand place was built and renamed Huaqing Palace.
