The construction of Xian Railway Station began in December, 1934. It formally commenced operation in June, 1935. In 1937, the railway station was renamed Chang'an Railway Station. On January 1, 1952, it reverted to its original name. Today it has 12 waiting halls which can accommodate 7000 passengers.
