Located at the Moslem Street, Xian, Gao’s Compound is a private dwelling built over four hundred years ago. Gao Yuesong, the owner of the house, won the second place in the imperial exams during the reign of the Emperor Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.). As a reward, this dwelling was awarded to him.
Gao’s Compound is a typical courtyard house featuring delicately carved brickwork and wood carvings. Today, it has become a popular tourist attraction. Tourists can also enjoy drinking tea and watching puppet shows there.
