Located about 3.5 kilometers from Suzhou Ancient City, the Maple Bridge is a single-arch stone bridge across the ancient Jinghang Grand Canal. It is well-known to visitors because of a poem called ‘A Night Mooring near Maple Bridge’. On a cold and lonely evening, the poet moored at the bridge. Inspired by the splendid night scenery near the bridge, he wrote that poem.
It is difficult to trace the origin of the Maple Bridge. The present bridge was rebuilt in 1867 and has a length of about 40 meters.
