Located in the middle section of Xiling Gorge near Sandouping Town, Hubei Province, the Three Gorges Dam is the world’s largest hydropower dam. The project was built to produce electricity, increase the Yangtze River’s shipping capacity and reduce flooding. Tanziling Ridge is the best location to view the dam. Tourists can not only view the five-step ship lock closely but also learn more information about the project in the model exhibition hall. Standing at the 185 platform, tourists can have a panoramic view of the dam. The height of the platform is about 185 meters. It is equivalent to the height of the dam project.
