Standing at the old town of Lhasa, the Jokhang Temple was built over 1,300 years ago under the order of the then Tibetan king Srongtsen Gampo. It combines the architectural style of Tibet, the Tang Dynasty of China (618 - 907), Nepal and India. The temple is in a mist of burning incense all day long. Devout followers of Tibetan Buddhism kowtow and pray along the blue flagstone-paved roads in front of the temple.
