Located close to the Shichaihai and Houhai scenic areas in Xicheng District, Yandaixie Street is one of the oldest hutongs (a narrow alleyway) in Beijing. It was initially called Drum Tower Street, but in the Qing Dynasty, there were many pipe smoking stores on this street, so it changed its name.
Today, there are many cafes, bars, restaurants and specialist shops on the street. Here tourists can go shopping, relax in the bars and cafes and taste some typical Beijing snacks.
