Qinqiang or Luantan is a typical folk Chinese opera in the northwest parts of China including Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia Provinces. Bangzi (woodblock) is used as one of the instruments. Thus, it has another name Bangzi Opera.
Qinqiang has 13 kinds of characters including four kinds of Sheng (male performers), six kinds of Dan (female performers), two kinds of Jing (painted face male performers) and one kind of Chou (clown).
