The West Street has a history of around 1400 years. It existed in 590 AD when Yangshuo County was established by the imperial government of the Sui Dynasty (581 - 618 AD). There were just several small shops that sold daily necessities at that time. In the early 1970s, some western tourists found the West Street when they visited Yangshuo. Thanks to them, more and more foreign tourists have been attracted to visit this street. Today, bars, cafes, local snack shops, craftworks shops and souvenir shops have appeared on the street. After around 1400 years of expansion, it has transformed from an unknown street to a well-known tourist attraction in Yangshuo.
