The Bird’s Nest (National Stadium) is the main stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Covering an area of 21 hectares (about 52 acres), it has 80,000 fixed seats and 11,000 temporary seats. Construction started on Dec. 24, 2003 and completed on Jun. 28, 2008. After the Beijing Olympics, the National Stadium has become a popular landmark as well as one of the two popular tourist attractions in Beijing.
