It took eight years (1964 to 1972) to build this memorial hall. At the beginning, it mainly exhibited cultural and historical relics related to Sun Yat-sen. Public performances were occasionally held there. Today, it has become a very important social education and culture center in Taiwan. Some grand events including 51th Gold Horse Film Festival were held at the performance area of the memorial hall. One of the highlights of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is the honor guard performance. It is performed every hour on the hour by a several handsome honor guards who wear the uniforms of army, navy and air force.
