Shandan Great Wall has two important portions. The first portion of the great wall was built in 111BC during the Han Dynasty. It runs about 98.5 kilometers (61.2 miles) from east to west. Although it was built more than 2000 years ago, the relic of the wall is still recognizable. The second portion was built in 1572 during the Ming Dynasty. It runs parallel to that built during the Han Dynasty and keeps a distance of 10 to 80 meters (11 to 87 yards).
Famed as the Open Air Museum, Shandan Great Wall is the best preserved portion of the ancient Great Wall in China.
