Situated on Golden Hill in Zhenjiang City, Jinshan Temple is a Buddhist temple whose history can be traced back to the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420). It has had several names during it's long history including Zexin Temple, Jinshan Temple and Youlong Temple.

Jinshan Temple is well-known to the public because of a legend. According to this legend, Bai Suzhen, a White Snake, married Xu Xian who's life he saved a long time ago. They lived happily after getting married. One day, a monk named Fa Hai brought Xu Xian back to the temple and forced him to become a monk. The White Snake and her sister Green Snake came and flooded the temple to save Xu Xian. Fa Hai defeated them and imprisoned the White Snake in the Leifeng Pagoda.
