The Heavenly Lake Scenic Area is on the northern slope of the Bogda Peak, 110 km (68miles) from Urumqi City. Heavenly Lake is of amazing natural beauty and shrouded in mystery. To the east of the lake is Black Dragon Pool, where the West Queen Mom (Xi Wang Mu, a goddess) once bathed. To the west of the Heavenly Lake is Yunv Pool where she washed her feet. The Fushou (Happiness and Longevity) Temple was once visited by Genghis Khan on his conquests of the West Regions. He summoned Qiu Chuji, a popular Taoist priest, to preach there.
