Located at the confluence of Yuan and Wu Rivers, the town originated in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Due to its special location, it once served as the assembly and distribution center for various kinds of commodities, such as wood, salt, tung oil and cloth.
