Nanjing Road is the main shopping center of Shanghai. It is also one of the famous commercial streets in the world. It is comprised of East Nanjing Road and West Nanjing Road. However, most people think the Nanjing Road refers to East Nanjing Road, today's Pedestrian Street of Nanjing Road. It starts from the Middle Henan Road in the east and ends at the Middle Xizang Road in the west. There are old and famous department stores, all kinds of domestic retail outlets and traditional restaurants with a long history in this well-known dedicated commercial zone.

Mr. VIVIAN0719WOW, right after Christmas
Er, seems that every hotel near the Bund is “REALLY expensive”. You may try “Shanghai Metropole Hotel”, my father stayed there last time, quite nice, like 500RMB/night (we booked on-line in advance). I think it’s on Fuzhou Rd.& Jiangxi Rd., can’t remember exactly, google it!
The hotel is near everything, the Bund, East Nanjing Rd., and Pearl Tower is right across the River. Perfect place for sightseeing, I mean, the lights. And luckily, the most spectacular parts about shanghai is the lights.
If you are arriving in Pudong Airport, take subway, LINE 2, which goes directly to East Nan Jing Road. If it’s Hongqiao Airport, LINE 2 OR LINE 10, both goes to East Nan Jing Road.
Sorry I don’t know about safe lockers, hope these will be helpful.

Hi, I have a layover in Shanghai 7:30pm - 8:30am on my way to another city in China, but I want to see nightlife safely there. I'm interested in taking photos of * The Pearl Tower , * Lights , * The River and experiencing *Nightlife * The underground metro w/ lights from the Bund
Can anyone suggest...
1. Fastest most economical TRANSPORTATION from the airport (the train?)to.. ?
2. a CLEAN,VERY SAFE HOTEL with a window and HEAT, but not too expensive ?
3. VERY CLOSE to tourist nightlife (Bund, East Naijing St. Pearl Tower, view of the River, lights etc.)??
4. Is it safe for a woman to enjoy nightlife alone (no drinking though)?
5. Does the airport have safe lockers? Otherwise I'll have 2 suitcases to carry.
